Dear Mums, Dads & Carers,
Mother's Day Celebration
We invite you to join us for our special Mother's Day Celebration on Sunday 22nd March. Refreshments will be served in the Church from 10.30am. Whilst you relax and enjoy a drink, the children will be busy completing a very special surprise for you, which they have been working on at FIZZ! over the past few weeks!
Our celebration begins at 11.00am and the FIZZ! children have prepared a number of items to perform. The programme will include a number of special performances from FIZZ!, Footsteps and Strides. The children will be able to participate in the main Celebration, as well as enjoying some special time out.
RSVP
To help us plan and prepare for this event, it would be most helpful if we had some idea of numbers. Please complete the slip on the letter already sent to FIZZ! parents, and return it to Christine by Monday 16th March. If you require any further details about this event, please do not hesitate to contact Christine 760239 or Dorothy 580531. We will be pleased to give you further information and help.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event and celebrating Mother's Day with you and your family.
With our thanks,
The FIZZ! Team
Young Children FIZZING with FUN!
Little kids love FIZZ!
FIZZ! - our after school club for reception age children - bridges the gap between Tiptoes and Footsteps. It's a smaller club than our other weekday children' clubs, which also means it's quieter and calmer. FIZZ! started with about 12 very enthusiastic children, soon rising to about 20 (which is probably our limit for this particular children's club).
Please contact us if you might like your child to come to FIZZ!
Refreshments and Anticipation
We start with refreshments to revive the children a bit after their tiring day at school - but the children usually arrive full of eager anticipation, having been reminding each other: "Oh it's FIZZ! tonight!" during the school day. One child was terribly disappointed that he had to miss a FIZZ! session - his dentist appointment, booked 6 months earlier just didn't have the same appeal!
Below, we give you an idea of the kind of things your child might do at a FIZZ! session - just bear in mind that the activities are unbelievably varied, and this is just a rough guide!
What Happens at FIZZ!?
Storytime - with Miles the Monkey
Miles the Monkey helps to tell the story. The children are good at listening carefully, which helps with the fun, games, songs, crafts and prayer activities that follow.
Activities, Crafts . . . and fun & games!
Some of the early FIZZ! sessions focussed on . . .
The Story of Abraham:
- The children set off on a journey 'like Abraham' with a suitcase and a tent . . . and Miles the Monkey (we're not aiming for authenticity here, just some understanding of the story!)
- At 'night' they pitched the tent and everyone piled into it to 'sleep'
- . . . only to discover on 'waking' that God wanted them to move tent (all round the church)
- . . . time after time!
- pipe-cleaner men (to represent Abraham)
- tents
- suitcases (no, we know Abraham didn't have a suitcase!)
- and woolly sheep!
Treasure!
When the children listen well during storytime - as they usually do! - they are given little bits of 'treasure' to add to their personal Treasure Chest. All the Treasure Chests are kept in a huge treasure ship - the same treasure ship which is the home of Miles the Monkey.
Why 'FIZZ!'?
FIZZ! bridges the gap between Tiptoes and Footsteps - it's well pitched for 4-5 year olds (some children were finding Footsteps a bit too much). The children are loving having a club especially for them! We hope that children who have enjoyed FIZZ! for two years will be keen to move on to Footsteps, and to try Children's Church too.
Meanwhile, we're glad to welcome back friends who used to come to Tiptoes and are now coming to FIZZ!
