The area between the 'north' side of the railway station and the Bakewell Road has become the 'entry' road to Matlock. This new road takes traffic past the new supermarket development before turning back on itself on the other side of the river to enter town.
This map also shows Matlock's New Road / One-Way System.

Finding Steep Turnpike Church:
The bridge by Crown Square only carries traffic out of Matlock. To reach Matlock from Cromford, drive past the old bridge and the new supermarket. At the junction, turn right and come back to town on the other side of the river along the A615 - the Bakewell / Darley Dale Road (which is still two-way).
On the Ordnance Survey map, the road 'Steep Turnpike' (shown in yellow) starts at the 'A' of the A615 label.
The church building is a short distance further on, marked with + beside the first turning on the left.
Wheelchairs have easy access from the church carpark (via the rear entrance). One toilet has wheelchair access.
On Foot from Matlock Railway Station
Matlock Railway Station is about 10 minutes walk away.
The old and new Matlock Bus Stations are both about 10 minutes walk away.

This very useful website combines searches for timetables / prices across all public transport options (bus, train, tram, coach...)
When using the Traveline website, check which boxes are pre-selected. You can search by either departure time or arrival time.
Please contact Steep Turnpike Church if you have any queries about transport that can't be solved by Traveline - we will do our best to help.
(Because google maps instructions were out of date at the time of writing this)
Google will show you a suggested route on a map, plus step by step written instructions.
Road Updates:
If you will be entering Matlock from 'the south' (A6), ignore any instruction which says: "At Crown Square, take the 3rd exit onto A615/Causeway Ln". Follow the instructions on this page instead!
Alternatively, there's an approach from the south, which goes up and over Starkholmes (a hill - very narrow indeed in places.)
(Googlemap's 'public transit' option is less useful than traveline.org.uk - see elsewhere on this page).
Multimaps, Streetmaps and Yahoo Maps do not show the new road system, so only use them in combination with the O.S. map above They allow you to zoom in and out to get your bearings. The google map also provides topographic or aerial photo views of the map area.
